A Little Decoupage Time

I was recently contacted through this blog, by a young lady that had a writing desk that she wanted me to decoupage.  At first I was going to say no because I have never taken on such a huge task with decoupage before.  After a few days of going back and forth in my head...which I tend to do too much....I decided to just go for it.

Emma and I exchanged emails discussing the project.  She sent pics of the desk as well as the paper she had chosen.  After talking to her and eventually getting the desk and paper she had informed me that she wanted the whole thing covered.

Oh Wow!  What have I done?   That was my first reaction.  Then I figured what the heck I will do the best I can do.  She apparently thinks I am capable so let me prove her right.

Well...as it turns out...I did a pretty good job if I do say so myself.  It was a bit of a struggle getting started but once I figured out a plan of action it was just a matter of getting it done.

I did do a bit of research to determine the best type of adhesive to use and opted for Mod Podge Furniture.  I also used it to apply a couple of top coats once the paper was set.  Then, on top of that, I used a water-based polycrylic from Minwax to add more protection.

Overall I am pleased and hopefully...once Emma sees it in person...she will love it as well.

Thanks Emma!!
